Being part of a group that is focused on issues that affect human living directly boosts your morale and makes you feel that you are doing something significant for others or for a greater cause. Since such an agency is not geared to making a lot of money or driven to achieve good ROI, it should find other ways to gain the resources needed for continued operations. Selling is not a keyword in this type of arrangement, but donations and grants are.
Non-profit organisations can, however, make use of certain financial products as secure storage options for the money raised. The best ISAs, among other schemes, allow the funds to grow. This, in itself, is also a way to generate the necessary resources vital to an NPOs survival.
Another recourse that such associations can take is through solicitations. Potential donors must be identified by determining their interests and financial capability. These people should also be partial or have a soft spot for the cause being upheld by the organisation so that the matter of getting them to support the NPO’s goals will not be as difficult. After identifying these individuals, well-crafted letters or proposals should be sent to them via e-mail or post. One may also arrange an appointment with a prospective sponsor and deliver the pitch in person.
In addition, getting subsidies from grant-giving bodies is also a way of raising funds for non-profit organisations. One should find an agency that caters to groups having the same aims as the NPO in question and submit a comprehensive plan or proposal detailing the programme that needs financing as well as information on how the money will be used and monitored.
Furthermore, resources may be culled through certain activities that necessitate active campaigning, such as setting up booths in public places that has high foot traffic. Holding auction and for-a-cause themed gatherings also helps the NPO gain added money for their association.
Visibility is important in fundraising efforts. No-for-profit organisations should establish a palpable presence in the area where it is operating in by setting up posters outside the headquarters and also by having a website containing pertinent information that helps interested parties know the nature of the group and how they can support it.
